Format


The non-impact Warmup is a flowing, dance-like exercise sequence repeated for 15 minutes to Scripture.  Exercises include pushups, lunges and others that prepare the body for the rest of the class.  For example, the warmup in routine 1 is based on Ephesians 6.  Routine 2 warmup is based on Galatians "Fruits of the Spirit".

 

The next 10-15 minutes contains standing exercises engineered toward lower body strength, stamina and flexibility, coordination, balance and proprioception (body awareness) alternating high effort exercises with rest.

 

Matwork is designed to train for strength and deep flexibility.
Lastly is stress management, breathing exercises and relaxation with prayer and Scripture meditation.

 

Self-pacing


WholyFit exercises are demonstrated in 3 levels. The participant chooses the modification that works for them personally.  WholyFit instructors are trained to engineer modifications that work for "every body".

 

 

 

 

 




WHY WHOLYFIT IS BETTER THAN YOGA

WHOLYFIT has a detailed, purposeful warm-up. Yoga typically does not include a warm-up.

Names of WHOLYFIT postures correspond to Scripture and ancient Hebrew.  Names of many Yoga postures honor religious heroes of the Yoga religions.

In the WHOYFIT warm-up cycle you will receive cardiovascular benefit

WHOLYFIT teaches the practice of Christian Meditation by thinking about Scripture which is much different than classical Yogic meditation.

WHOLYFIT offers a definite format. Yoga has no set format.

WHOLYFIT offers fitness based sequencing. WholyFit  is fitness based.  You will get an awesome workout just right for you.  Many Yoga classes contain little fitness training.

WHOLYFIT is multi-level and self-paced, offering gradual training using cutting edge personal training techniques and is never boring.  Some Yoga organizations  (like Bikram) use a "one-size-fits-all"  approach and do the same poses over and over.

WHOLYFIT is based on biomechanics of movement offering modifications using incremental teaching techniques.  In Yoga incremental modifications are sometimes not practiced as much as necessary due to entrenchment in tradition.  Yoga poses were invented with a first priority placed on religious purposes.   

WHOLYFIT weighs risk versus benefits unlike Yoga.  Yoga poses often place spiritual purpose above safety as defined by common fitness industry standards.  For example, Yoga "Lotus", "Plough" and "Cobra" are contraindicated postures in most fitness training manuals. 




HISTORY OF WHOLYFIT

WHOLYFITwas founded by fitness professional Laura Monica, who has developed a multi-level strengthening and stretching program built to accomplish specific health and fitness goals for Christians. Laura's background comes from 25 years of exercise prescription and program design (see Bio).
